Bro. Stan’s Memorial Day blog: May 19, 2014
Our memory is a wonderful gift, to be able to remember special times and special people of the past. Some memories bring a smile while others bring a tear. Some memories we would rather forget while others, we pray, will never be forgotten. Memorial Day is May 26th. A day set aside to remember the men and women who have died in the different wars our great country has been involved with throughout its history; these who have paid the ultimate price so that we today could enjoy the benefits of freedom. Memorial Day is a day to remember and to show our respect and gratitude to these brave men and women. We as Christians also remember, not only those who died so we might live in a free society, but we also remember the Lord Jesus Christ who died and rose again so that we could truly be free from the bondage of sin and death. John 8:36 says, “Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” We should never forget the one who paid for our freedom spiritually nor should we forget those brave men and women who paid for our freedom in this great nation. Memorial Day is not about a day off, or a picnic, or ballgames. It’s about taking time to remember those who have given us this freedom that we enjoy today.
